IrRADIARE’s street lighting platform builds upon open systems.

To ensure competitiveness, and therefore a better energy supply, open communication protocols focused on energy grids should be established. These would allow for better interoperability and technology independence.

The building blocks of the energy grid should be able to communicate with each other regardless of the supplier or technology and be replaceable without chained dependencies. New technologies could then be incorporated with reduced costs and great improvements.
The incorporation of observability characteristics on the grid will greatly improve the perception of the energy use by all consumers, both citizens and companies alike.

Controllability would enable fine grained the demand due to the improvement it would bring to the end user.
